BRIEF SUMMARY:

Diameter, Circle’s internal tool, is used by multiple internal teams for everything from anti-money laundering investigations to customer care issues.

Circle is a leader in the cryptocurrency sector, currently worth around 9 billion, they're the sole issuer of the stablecoin USDC. We championed redesigning Diameter as a strategic investment by Circle that lead to numerous benefits for the business. We provided the capability to service new offerings from Circle as well as improved efficiency and productivity for our users.

New web-application design and development. Evaluation and improvement of current tooling to ensure we were meeting the current needs and are prepared for future challenges.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Here’s a quick look at where Diameter was when I joined the internal tools team.

Our UI was a mess and it felt like the tool had been neglected. Not much strategic thinking and features stacked on top of each other with no logical organization. We would need to completely reorg the current IA to make the content intuitive to find.

Through researching Circle’s processes, systems, and other existing tools we were able to gather valuable insights and created proposals for leadership based on our discovery work. None of this would have been possible without an amazing team of developers, product managers, and fellow designers!

IMPACT:

We improved our Customer Care Team's average 'Time on Task' by almost 40%. Our redesign allowed their team to significantly cut down on their work load!

Updated code-base enables developers from other pillars of the company to contribute to our tool and help our team when needed.

Of course, the quilitative aspect is important too. Diameter 2.0 isn't just easier to use it's also been significantly upgraded visually.

TAKEAWAYS:
Complex dashboards take time. We spent a good amount of time in discovery and our time devoted to extensive competive analysis of other SaaS products paid dividends in the end

Break up larger tasks and take them on little by little. Some things take time and thats okay. Keeping in mind that sometimes 'slow motion is better than no motion' was key to some aspects of this project.
